Top 5 PHP Editor (IDE) for Web Developers

If you want to simplify the process of coding, you need to use editor with features like auto-completion, automatic error detection, syntax hi-lighting and many more features.

There are a lot of PHP IDE today. PHP IDE is a PHP Integrated Development Environment for developing, debugging and managing PHP files. These are few best PHP IDE’s & Editors that I’ve used previously. I have not included all available editors, these are few handpicked Editors based on my opinion.

First 3 are the Best Free Powerful PHP IDE’s. The most popular one today is Sublime Text Editor, because of it’s flexibility & available packages.

The eclipse editor is the best PHP editor to with for large scale projects, but to install the editor the Java must be installed without which it will not work. It is cross-platform and works in Linux, MacOS and Windows.

    Eclipse PDT is the one that I use for everyday coding. I has many features including auto-completion for several programming languages, error detection, syntax highlighter, and even a built in browser to test simple scripts.

    Netbeans is a free open-source Integrated Development Environment (IDE) for software developers. It runs under the Java platform, which means you will need to install java in your PC to run this editor.

    Aptana Studio, Developed by Aptana Inc. is a leading open-source HTML editor and many people are not aware that it also comes with a PHP support. Aptana Studio is developed on Eclipse platform.

    It has inbuilt support for Smarty and the recent versions for Aptana also include a Debugger for PHP developers. Aptana Studio is built on top of Eclipse platform and is very stable and powerful.
